Independent Reading #8

Today I am going to write a quote truly grabbed my attention while reading “The Fault in Our Stars”. The quote said by Hazel’s father after she told her parents that she wanted to be far from people because she would not want to hurt any person, when passing away, then she lifted. After lifting to her room she heard her parents’ whispered conversation. Her father while he was crying said “it kills me.” Her father’s reaction honestly made me felt sad. This reaction happens only when fathers cannot do anything for their children (Page100).

Independent Reading #7

This week I read “The Fault in Our Stars” from page 81 to 92. What I like in this part that the writer described how Hazel and his boyfriend Augustus encourage each other to read books. I think this is a good idea to help people to read. Especially, when someone we like introduces the book for us and really recommends us to read it.

Do you read the book if someone you like introduces it for you or gifts it?

Independent Reading #6

From page 69 to 81 John Green In his book “The Fault in Our Stars” described what happened to Hazel and Augustus with Peter Van Houten, the author of “An Imperial Affliction.” Houten, who is living in Netherland, answered Hazel email and told her that she had delighted him by her email and questions, which she sent to hem. However, Houten said that he could not answer Hazel questions by email or by call. Then he told her that she would be more than welcome to come to Amsterdam and talk to him in a CafĂ©. Hazel felt ecstatic and shouted aloud “What is This Life.” Her mam came to her and she thought that something bad happened to her. Hazel assured her mam that she was fine and she was happy from the invitation she had from Houten. Unfortunately, she noticed from her mam that they do not have enough money for international travel. What I like from Hazel that she was conscious and understood that her parents had been paying a lot of money on her health to recover from cancer and she did not insist more to travel to Amsterdam.

My question:

Do you think it was nice from Hazel that she did not insist more to travel to Amsterdam to achieve one of her dreams? Do you have similar situation that you want something but you did not say it because you know it will cost your parents more than they can?

Independent Reading #5

On Monday while I was reading The Fault in Our Stars, I found myself bored. The book from page 57 to 59 was describing how Augustus was playing videogame with Isaac and Hazel was looking for them. I think the writer was trying to illustrate Isaac situation and emotions because his girlfriend left him. However, I believe the author was focusing a lot about the game more than Isaac feelings, or he described the videogame more than norm.

Summary

This Monday I read The Fault in Our Stars from page 25 to page 35.The writer was talking about Hazel and Augustus were watching the movie together in the basement. After that Augustus took hazel to her house and both of them gave each other book to read. Augustus wrote his number on the book that he gave Hazel and asked her to call him once she finished reading it. Hazel finished the book next night and called Augustus but he still did not finish it. I think the writer was describing how their relationship growing. For me in general I like to read people stories because its explain people emotions. I found it interesting.

The Fault In Our Stars

This week I read "The Fault In Our Stars" again. To be honest with you I find myself the more I read in this book the more I like it. Today, while I was reading I admired Augustus' parents and how they dealt Hazel when she visited them. They didn't asked Hazel about her cancer or imply anything about it. In addition, Augustus' parents were very friendly with her and were happy because she came with their son. In general, I really respected the way they welcomed her.

The fault In Our Stars

My Reaction

While I was reading "The fault In Our Stars" my eyes got caught by a great sentence described the God. The sentence is "God you and you alone know us as we know ourselves."This quote grabbed my attention because I totally believe in God. Moreover, I trust that God always guide us to the right path unless we don't want. In general, I liked the book and recommend you all to read it.

Me First Reaction

First of all,  for long time I have not been reading in English for an hour. I felt this hour passed quickly. As a students I think this is one of the best way to encourage students to read. this time the book I read is called "Amerianah" was wrote by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The author from Nigeria, and she described her story about traveling to the United States. The story was nice, but I hope next week I will bring my book with me.

In general, I was thinking that all the kids would be afraid to treat us. However, I really shocked when I saw some of them was very happy. They were waiting to meet us. In addition, I didn't face any kind of difficulties to sit and speak with them about their favorite issues. Also, they told me they are from where. One of them from Taiwan and the other was porn in California. In fact, there are no many differences between the elementary schools here and what we have In Saudi Arabia. I think here they are caring more in decoration. Moreover, they are using scrape materials in amazing way and it is not costing them a lot. In other words, the are sustainable. Also, I saw that the system here is encouraging students more to be confident and creative. In conclusion, I recommend IECP's students next time to prepare one joke to tell it to them. Because they said for me many, but I didn't.
